A Cantonese Feast 3

On Saturday 28 June 2008, we have organized another session of vegetarian cooking in Cantonese style.
We have learnt 5 dishes, supplemented by desert, fruits, lemongrass tea (grown in our own backyard).

Here are the 5 main dishes:





Fruits, source of our daily nutirents.



Kiwi fruits: high Vatamin C, higher than oranges



Vegetarian/non- alcoholic wine


Pawpaw

Fried noodle in thick mushroom soy sauce

Zongzi



Voila, Red Bean Zongzi, served in honey




String or thread used to wrap Zongzi

Frozen the rest for future enjoyment

Dilute five spice favor bag in warm water, and pour the stock in the ingredients




For Red Bean Zongzi, add the soaked beans to soaked sticy rice, ;



wrap in the bamboo leave


Boil the wrapped ones in hotwater for 45 minutes or till it is ready




Once ready, hang up Zongzi in bundles and let them cool down.

Pre-cook the ingredients: bring the wok to high heat with oil,
fry sliced mushroom, peanuts, vegetarian protein;
stir and blend the favors,
add soy sauce

Dragon Boat Festival is on the 5th day of the 5th Month on Chinese Lunar Calendar.
Zongzi is a delicacy made of sticky rice and other ingredients wrapped in bamboo leaves.
We will show you images of the Zongzi making process.


Some ingredients for Zongzi: dry bamboo leaves, sticky rice, peanuts, red beans, dried mushroom.

Wash the ingredients in tap water, and soak them for a few hours;


Slice the soaked mushroom;
Soften the bamboo leaves in boiling water.
